Hooking up fearlessly

In the last few days in the news Virgin Mobile has been under fire in Calgary and Mississauga regarding their "provocative" ads showing a man and woman passionately kissing while he touches her buttocks. These ads were considered too sexually exploitative and had to be taken down.

Luckily in Vancouver we have not had this happen. I guess we are just more open here and realize this behaviour happens in public all the time. Just walk down Robson or Granville Streets, Pacific Centre or even the library on any day of the week and you will see couples passionately kissing ... and more.

According to the Canadian Press article, the concern was that a mother with an eight year old girl may see this ad. Hmmm, in today's age I don't think it is a bad thing for an eight year to see this type of ad; it should only open more communication with the parent and child on what happens on our streets everyday.

I wonder how these cities will react when Virgin's next ad comes out showing two men kissing?
