We at GayVancouver.Net (Gay Vancouver Online) subscribe to Google Alerts that tell us when the phrase "gay vancouver" is mentioned on the internet. Usually it is our own content that we are alerted to but this morning I received notification of an article titled More to Love, Not for Gays at Homorazzi. The article talks about the new reality television show similar to The Bachelor/Bachelorette but for "heavy set people". We've not seen the show ourselves but have heard about it.
The post's author opines that More to Love would never work in the gay community due to our ongoing obsession with being a "Calvin Klein model" but that we would continue to work out "4 or 5 times a week" and hook up only "with people that are societally attractive".
Is our community that shallow? I don't think so. I admit I fight with my weight and rather than 4 or 5 times a week at the gym it usually ends up being more like 3 or 4. But as for being obsessed? I hope not. I like to look good but more importantly I like to feel good. I'm never going to be that Calvin Klein model but I am also not so shallow to think that I would judge solely on looks.
BTW, can someone tell me where that local bar is that has a reputation that "involves being urinated on"?!?!?
