A green oasis at the entrance to Davie Village...

During the summer my partner and I take to almost daily "urban walks" which usually take us from Yaletown through the West End to English Bay and the seawall. With the growing season in full swing one of our favourite stops along the way are the community gardens at Nelson Park and at the corner of Davie and Burrard Street.

While the Nelson Park community garden is lots of fun to explore, it is actually the garden at the Davie & Burrard that gets most of our attention simply because of its prominent location at the entrance to the Davie Village area. A former gas station, the site is destined at some point to become yet another condo or commercial building but until that time comes we're going to continue to enjoy our urban walks pausing to take in this green oasis in the middle of our city! Besides, we want to see just how tall those sunflowers can get. Oh, did I mention the knit graffiti (more on that in another post)?!?
